'If you tell the truth
you don't have to
Wisdom is a book to inspire… a cornucopia of wise words, ancient and modern, from every corner of the world. On subjects that are frivolous and profound, comical and austere, spiritual and mundane, the authors have lovingly gathered together the sayings of figures as diverse as HP, Descartes and Confucius; Mahatma Gandhi, Neruda, and Marx; Oscar Wilde and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Whether Indian, Greek, Islamic, or Jewish; Roman, Chinese, Russian or African, the themes are universal and enduring - love, hubris, mortality, and the nature of wisdom itself. The musings of the celebrated philosophers, and the heroic insights of those whom history has chosen not to record, the epigrams, declarations and proverbs contained in these pages - small bright gems of wisdom from every continent, from every faith, and from every age - will remain with you.
'Freedom from desire
leads to inward peace…'
'Every word from the lips of a great man
is a diamond…'
